Growing up in Shiraz, Iran, I started drawing during my high school years. Even though I haven’t had any formal training in art, I’ve followed (in my own way) similar method of academic training i.e. drawing from objects, copying works of the Old Masters, cast drawing, and finally drawing from life.
There was a long period during which I didn't do any drawings, hence the pages "Early" and "Recent".
I currently live in Anacortes, Washington. A few years ago, I started to draw again and worked with my friend and mentor, Ben, for a couple of years which had a great impact on my works.
I mainly work with graphite, vine charcoal, charcoal pencil, conté, chalk, and pastel while using black, white, sanguine, ochre, and sepia. The two oil paintings are exceptions.
The life drawings range from short poses lasting a few minutes to a few hours. I did these drawings at local studios, Gage Academy of Art in Seattle , and one time during a multi week workshop at Florence Academy of Art in Italy.
